The General Counsel Dining Club – Dublin event with Keith Ruddock as our guest speaker

Good afternoon,

I am very much looking forward to Keith Ruddock being our guest speaker at our General Counsel Dining Club on Tuesday, 6 September 2022. In 2013, Keith was an absolutely brilliant keynote speaker at one of our previous General Counsel events held at the stunning City of London venue, Innholders’ Hall. So, nine years later, I’m delighted to be welcoming Keith back to the Club to share his thoughts and wisdom with us.

This will be an invitation-only event for General Counsel.

About Keith Ruddock

Keith Ruddock is the Chair of the Board of Trustees of the British Institute of International and Comparative Law (BIICL).

He was General Counsel of The Weir Group PLC from April 2012 until the end of 2015.  Previously he spent 20 years working in the international legal department of Shell in a variety of roles, and in different parts of the world, finally becoming General Counsel for Shell’s global Upstream business based in The Hague.  He has had extensive involvement in advising on Shell’s and The Weir Group’s investments in many countries and legal environments and in leading substantial international legal departments.

He is also Co-Chair of the Development Board of the Bingham Centre for the Rule of Law.  He was a member of the Board of Directors of Scottish Ballet until the end of 2021 and is a Visiting Professor in Law at the University of Strathclyde in Glasgow. 

Keith was born in the Republic of Ireland and grew up in Northern Ireland.  He studied law at Cambridge University and qualified as an English solicitor in 1986.  He is a member of the Global Irish Network.

He is a keen hiker and has undertaken a number of treks in Nepal and Tanzania in recent years, including most recently to Everest Base Camp.
