Dan is Group General Counsel and Company Secretary. Dan joined BT Group plc in April 2010 as General Counsel and became Company Secretary in 2012. Dan is also Diversity & Inclusion Champion at BT.

BT has changed dramatically over the last 5 years. It has rebuilt is balance sheet, moved into new markets such as TV and Sport and is currently on the cusp of acquiring the UK’s largest mobile provider, EE. Outside the UK, BT is active in over 170 countries and territories.

This is Dan’s third General Counsel role in the UK. He previously fulfilled that role at Misys plc (a software company) and Cable &Wireless plc. Dan started his career in New York City at the US law firm, Pillsbury Winthrop.

At BT, Dan leads the Legal, Governance and Compliance functions (LGC). LGC provides the full array of legal, governance and compliance services to BT.

Dan studied law at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (JD Hons.1985); economics at UNC (BA Hons.1981); and international and comparative politics at the London School of Economics (Diplo. Distinction 1982).

Dan is an attorney (New York) and a solicitor (England & Wales).

Dan is from North Carolina and has lived in the UK since 1987.

Thomas is a partner and Deputy Practice Group Leader of the Employment Group, with responsibility for Europe and the Middle East.
