Louise Phelan, Vice President of Global Operations for Europe, MENA, PayPal

Louise Phelan is Vice President of Global Operations for Europe, Middle East and Africa, PayPal. She leads 2,600 teammates in Dublin, Dundalk and Berlin, working together in a culture of collaboration, respect and innovation.

Louise joined PayPal in 2006, when the company had 200 employees in Ireland. Prior to this, she was a member of the senior management team of GE Money, a division of General Electric.

In addition to her PayPal role, Louise is a non-executive Director at Ryanair and a member of the Action Plan for Jobs Implementation Group. She was the 2014 President of the American Chamber of Commerce in Ireland.

Louise’s leadership achievements have seen her win numerous awards. She won Ireland’s ‘Most Trusted Leader’ at the Great Place to Work awards and ‘Irish Innovation Champion’ at the 2014 Innovation Luminary awards.

In 2012, Louise was awarded the Sir Michael Smurfit Achievement Award by The Ireland Chamber of Commerce – United States. In the same year, she was presented with an Outstanding Contribution to Irish Industry Award by the CCMA. In 2013 she received the Women Mean Business Person of the Year and Business Woman of the Year by InBusiness Magazine.

Louise is an advocate for Focus Ireland after participating in their ‘Shine a Light’ campaign in October 2013 when she slept out in Dublin’s Iveagh Gardens.
