“What a fantastic evening listening to Bjarne and Colin ‘firestyle’. Bjarne is completely inspirational – clearly incredibly intelligent, thoughtful, passionate and driven, yet with a humble approach to his success which was very compelling and thought provoking.”

Good afternoon,

As many of you know we celebrated our 50th TALK last night at the LBDC | Lawyers’ Business Development Club |.

We had a truly inspirational guest speaker to celebrate this significant milestone:  Bjarne P. Tellmann, General Counsel of Pearson plc.  (Bjarne was our highly acclaimed guest speaker at the LBDC in New York on 27 October 2015.  Our event was sponsored and hosted by Morgan Lewis in New York).

We had an extremely enjoyable evening which was very generously sponsored and hosted by the lovely people at Keltie LLP.  Thanks to all of you for joining us and for making the night so memorable.

You may be interested to see a few photos from our evening (more to follow!) and to read some of the praise and accolades for Bjarne’s TALK.

“What a fantastic evening listening to Bjarne and Colin ‘firestyle’. Bjarne is completely inspirational – clearly incredibly intelligent, thoughtful, passionate and driven, yet with a humble approach to his success which was very compelling and thought provoking.

“Hi Colin, what a great success and amazing venue but most importantly what an inspirational speaker Bjarne is.  Excellent turnout too for your milestone 50th event!!  I did check with [  ] last week but unfortunately she couldn’t make it.  Til the next one!”

“Bjarne was the perfect speaker for LBDC’s milestone’s 50th talk who reminded us what brought us all together in the first place.  It renewed my passion for success and I felt turbo-charged with so many new ideas and invaluable advice. Thanks to you and LBDC for making it happen and giving us such a very inspirational and enjoyable evening! Last but not least, I’m going to be in New York between [  ] in case you are planning an event anytime soon.  Also please let me know if it would be helpful to introduce you to a couple of lawyers there.  One of my best friends is a partner at [ ] and they have a NY office there too.  She’s based in London but if you want, I can also ask her to put you in touch with her NY colleagues.”

“Hi Colin, I just wanted to say thank you for the outstanding event last night.  Bjarne was not only an excellent and insightful speaker (as expected from his reputations) but also very genuine and unassuming.  An excellent event, I was hoping to thank you afterwards but couldn’t find you at the drinks. All the best.”

“Hi Colin, what a fab evening.  You have created something very special – bravo!.  I hope I am invited to other events and that this is the first of many such fantastic learning opportunities.  Happy 50th! Very best to you.”

“Hi Colin, I thoroughly enjoyed the talk last night. Thank you for a great evening.”

“Colin – I just wanted to say huge congrats on reaching 50 LBDC talks, and to say that I really enjoyed last night’s (even though I wasn’t able to hang around for a drink afterwards).  A huge amount of what Bjarne said echoes with stuff I’ve thought for a long time but was getting worried that I was being a maverick over, given the number of GCs I met who didn’t seem to get it.  It was nice to know that a much bigger GC than me thinks like that – plus he was a really interesting and nice guy too. Well done again – catch up with you soon.”

“Hi Colin, thanks again for organising a great event last night! Bjarne really was fantastic.”

“Hi Colin.  I didn’t get a chance to introduce myself to you last night so I just wanted to drop you a quick note to say that I very much enjoyed my first LBDC event.  Bjarne was very interesting and I left with much to think about!  I look forward to attending the next event and hopefully we can meet in person then.”

“Hi Colin, thank you very much for a wonderful evening.  It was certainly a talk with a difference. ..you certainly set the tone from the beginning with the karate question! I thought the format was really refreshing and informal and could have listened to Bjarne for hours. Best of luck for the next 50 and I hope you were really happy too with how it all went.  I spoke with someone after who had been at a lot of your events and said it was definitely top 3!”
